Sure enough one of those numbers, 3464, is etched in Nafisa's toilet tank, but the company never recalled them. Nafisa said no one even warned them of the problem; not the toilet manufacturer nor the builder who installed the toilet in 2012.
It was recently brought to our attention that some homes in the [Franklin Crossings] community may have been built with a particular model of toilet tank manufactured by Vortens between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. The enclosed 10-page Notice was downloaded from the website link The Notice provides a good explanation of the issue and what steps can be taken by affected homeowners. While Taylor Morrison has no involvement in the class action settlement, you may wish to inspect your toilet tank to see if it is one of the affected tanks, and if so, take the appropriate steps to address it.\"
Pursuant to a class action settlement being administered by a Texas court involving these tank models manufactured in 2011, we have established a program for certain remedies which include product replacement, reimbursement of certain costs, and in some cases, extended warranties. For more details the claims that are covered, the remedies available, and the process for pursuing claims, please reference the claims website at:

I have 6 toilets in my house. All are vortens model # 3464 but have a manufacturers date in 2012. Two of the Six tanks have cracked so far. Much water damage and replacement cost. This law suite should include 2012 models too.
I had a toilet that I bought from winnelson and it cracked and started leaking water. I have proof where I bought it and a picture of the crack. I had to purchase another toilet. I cannot load the claim or get a call through on the line I was given. Please get in touch with me at
We have a three story house in Houston, Texas and in mid March 2020 the top floor bathroom Vortens toilet tank cracked open in the middle of the night and rained water down through all three levels causing significant damage to floors, walls, and ceilings on all levels. The house has just finished repairs and we replaced all 4 Vortens toilets in the house at our own cost. I will be submitting a claim.
I bought a house last year with 4 bathrooms with Vortens 3464. Yesterday one toilet tank cracked. it is the upstairs bathroom. Water got everywhere and leaked through the living room ceiling downstair and down the wall. I am glad we were home.
I bought a house two years ago with 4 Vortens 3464 toiket tanks. The first one cracked down the side and flooded 3 rooms. Not only should I have a claim for the one that cracked, but for the other 3 as well, that should be replaced.

In February 2014 and again in 2016 we posted an alert on our website regarding the faulty toilets. At that time, we believed the issue only affected toilets manufactured between 2011-2012, and only in the Southeast Texas area. Since then, reports have popped up all over the country about faulty Vortens toilets, manufactured as far back as 2009.
In a press statement, Vortens admitted that some porcelain tanks manufactured in 2011, mainly models #3464 and #3412, have a manufacturing defect that may cause them to break. They have since ceased the production of model #3464, and improved the manufacturing process of model #3412.
According to forensic engineering consultant R.J. Hill, about 2,000 tanks were not subjected to a high enough temperature in their kilns, resulting in a weaker material that is prone to cracking from the water pressure.

One of our Vorens tanks just failed 7/9/14 and flooded 1/3 of our house. This was a seldom used spare bathroom in a house less than 3 years old. The cracks eminate from the bottom from the bolt holes.
I had a Vortens tanks fail in an upstairs guest bathroom causing extensive water damage to my upstairs and downstairs area. Before that was repaired, a second tank cracked damaging another bathroom downstairs. Vortens replaced the toilets, but refuse to pay for the damages. My insurance carrier paid for the damages and attempted to collect. Vortens further refuse to take any responsibility. House was just 18 months old. 153554b96e
