I really like my new Canon MF4690 printer because it gave me fast access to my stored photos - but it is chafing my ass! When I installed this printer, I tried to print a few pages to verify that the printer is working before I reset the serial number. Unfortunately, the printer prints a registration page, and then it will not print pages after that. It did not display any of the usual warnings of not being able to enter function, or similar. It just shows "CLOCK/OFF" every single time I try to print something.
I have a Canon MF462 printer that the print head is getting dirty every month or so, so I want to reset the firmware version, but I don't know how to do that. The instructions just show for updating phones for the printer, but I don't have that model. I have seen videos on how to do it with other models of printers, and it seems like you can go to the printing settings and select "Firmware" for the printer, but I don't know which version number to enter into that and what it will do. How do I reset these printers to factory settings?
Just to let you know, it just worked! I hope this helps someone else. I am so excited to be able to remember the wifi password for my printer. Because I don't have the form-filling ability, I had to manually change the firmware version of my Canon MF-9880, which is the same printer as MF4690. Form filling to change firmware version isn't listed anywhere on the Canon website.
Wish I could get this printer to work properly. It's loud, and it's taken years for proper functioning. I've gone through several manuals and 0.00 errors, which is why I'm frustrated at what I can do. It's dumb, and I will be switching to a cheaper Canon or HP printer.
Visit your ““My Account”” page and select ““My Canon””. Click the ““Communication”” tab. Select ““Enable Canon Online Support”” from within that tab. You will be directed to complete a short form.
Before you can proceed with resetting your product, you will need to enable the Canon online support service. This is done by clicking the blue ““ button on our home page. A screen displaying your information will open. Highlight ““Enable Canon Online Support”” in the blue box located in the far right hand corner of that screen. Continue using your computer as normal until you come back here. d2c66b5586
