If you are installing a device driver package for a product that you have not previously installed, then you are prompted for product information, and you must select the appropriate option. This should be the first driver package you install for the product.

The controllers.inf file is a comma-delimited list of file names with regular expressions, identifying which controllers must be installed. By default, the controllers.inf file contains a list of all controllers on a computer, and therefore all controllers are required to be installed by a device driver package. You can modify this file by entering a new list of files that is specific to your computer. For example, you can make a list of only the hard drives on a computer. Or you can make a list of all controllers on a computer except any controllers that have already been installed on the computer.
