Broke Amateurs Kim

What I love about Kim's scary golf ability is that ths look at Justine in the context of her whole life. As she noted, her family hasn't quite embraced her as a woman, which is still Pervasive in her society. Lost in one's country is difficult from the get go. Does that make sense? Does it all make sense?
To put it all in terms of her family, when she talks about her race and Asian, she is getting antsy. She does not want to be stereotyped, or rather, it's not a stereotype that bothers her. It's a question of knowing that society - America - likes Asian women. It's an unconscious bias. The Asian women she knows skip school and "just work." So she, too, did that. She delivers newspapers in Queens at 5:30 am. She grinds, GREs, interviews, bakes or lives life per the norms of a Korean boy. Her sister is in law school at BAYS (U of B in northern California). That means To-Nae is unemployed and a student. Her parents are in their mid 40s. Her father runs a family business and her mother gardens at home. Perhaps her father....
Her father is the CEO of a fam-bly business. It's a Korean family business. Things are not going well. For one he does not want his children to live a stereotyped life, but they do. The children are not getting the less covered part of the content of Asian-ness. Yong-nam, the eldest, went to Korea after college. He is their basketball star. And he is also their business man. He counts money for the family, and is the boss when at home. One, he wants what all of us want - for his children to flourish. The other, he helps the family with this idea of Korean success. Not American. Also at home his wife meets his expectations; she is very focused as well. This is where Yong-Nam runs the orchard business. Tae-hyun should not live a stereotyped life. It is not an option for a Korean boy. Three younger siblings are all Korean who went to US colleges. The youngest is about to become the CEO, he is the 13. At 28, he is not going to run the business. He may lose it. That would look bad. d2c66b5586
