The downside is, of course, that you can't get anamorphic video from the sensor, so the resolution of any video is just 720x576. Videos are also limited to 30fps on Full HD modes.

Holga-style anamorphic lenses offer a cheap and semi-compact way to get usable anamorphic results at any focal length. However, the result isn't quite as good as with the great white shark or cine lenses on MFT bodies and these are probably the least sophisticated of the different designs currently available, so expect some motor noise at higher focal lengths.

Higher quality lenses offer a much better compromise between size and resolution. The DFD sensor performs well and, on a full frame camera, the best tool to capture anamorphic results without too much effort or cost. Shooting in Full HD at 300 or 400 frames a second, you can generate a substantial amount of free-standing video. However, you'll be restricted to 30fps at Full HD and the results will depend on whether your subject is slowly or quickly moving.

There are wider anamorphic lenses available but they're usually sold in'modular' kits along with a bokeh, and all of those do more than the full frame lens as we've just discussed. However, we're not sure the right people will want a modular kit - it may make most sense to buy the very best lens you can afford as it'll make more sense than a third lens for you to add on. The difficulty is, there are so few of these lenses now that they're often out of stock.
